SRAC is Forced to Close Their Doors - Click Here to Learn More

If you woke up today and saw this as the headline of the local newspaper - what would your thoughts be?

"Due to lack of funding, the Susquehanna River Archaeological Center has been forced to close their doors."

The truth is that not all nonprofits like SRAC will make it in these hard economic times, and it is usually long after the fact when a community realizes what they lost.

The that fact that SRAC is the largest museum in the region dedicated to our Native American and prehistoric past might very well go unnoticed until the time when you can no longer bring your family to SRAC to share it with.

Or maybe the fact that SRAC is a community-centered organization that hosts local school field trips, is open 5 days a week and is staffed by 100% volunteers who make you feel welcome the minute you walk in the door while hosting over fifty community events a year (with several being free to attend) might be overlooked until it is no longer available.

Yet it might just be that the results of SRAC efforts working with our local community to promote economic development and trying to help our Valley overall to be a better place to live might be missed when it is no longer here.

Whatever the reason, I am sure that you would have to agree that our community is much better off for having The Susquehanna River Archaeological Center.

It is also important to note that SRAC is also better for having you - our supporters - because without you - that headline above could have actually been a reality. In fact, memberships and donations made 3/4's of all the money that SRAC operated on in 2010 and 2011 will not be any different.

SRAC will be launching our 2011 Giving Campaign this spring instead of summer this year, and I am asking you to help us.
I want to thank you in advance for your assistance and support in 2011. My feeling is that our 2011 Giving Campaign will remain in the same vein that we always strive for everyday here at SRAC - That is that our success in raising funds is directly related to our ability in raising friends. Through your support, we dedicate ourselves to our mission for generations to come.
